Inflation hit a 40-year high of 8.5 percent in March, while the cost of gas skyrocketed to a national average of nearly $4.19 a gallon. The cost of meat has risen roughly 20%, as has the national rent average (though it’s up nearly 40 percent in places like Miami). The cost of a used car or truck is up more than 40%.
